Writers Studio Is Officially Launched for Mac
Writers Studio is officially launched for Mac.
I built it for fiction writers who need more than a blank page. Long-form projects are hard to keep organized: the manuscript lives in one place, character notes in another, timeline details in a spreadsheet, worldbuilding in a separate document, and AI chat somewhere else entirely.
Writers Studio brings those pieces into one native Mac workspace.
What Writers Studio Does
Writers Studio combines drafting, story organization, continuity checking, export, and AI assistance in one app:
- Rich text manuscript editor for long-form fiction
- Series and manuscript workspaces
- Worldbuilding dashboard for characters, locations, items, events, organizations, magic systems, and more
- AI-assisted entity extraction from manuscript text
- Continuity checks across chapters
- Export to ePUB, PDF, DOCX, Final Draft, Markdown, HTML, RTF, and plain text
- OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and local Ollama support
The goal is not to replace the writer. The goal is to reduce the amount of manual tracking that gets between a writer and the draft.
Built Around Fiction Workflows
Generic writing tools are good at holding text. Fiction projects need more structure than that.
Once a manuscript gets large enough, writers have to track descriptions, relationships, locations, world rules, timeline events, and revision notes across many chapters. If that information lives outside the draft, it tends to drift.
Writers Studio is built around that problem. The app can help turn manuscript text into structured story data, then use that context during revision and continuity checks.
AI With Choice and Control
Writers Studio supports several AI workflows:
- OpenAI
- Anthropic
- Gemini
- Ollama for local AI on the Mac
The Direct edition uses your own provider keys for cloud AI, or local Ollama if you want AI features without sending manuscript text to a cloud provider.
The Mac App Store edition is a free download with optional cloud AI subscriptions for writers who prefer App Store billing and do not want to manage API keys.
Two Mac Editions
There are two ways to use Writers Studio on Mac.
Mac App Store
The Mac App Store edition is a free download. It includes the core writing and worldbuilding workflow, with optional cloud AI subscriptions available through App Store billing.

Direct Edition
The Direct edition is a one-time $59 purchase for the v1.x lifecycle. It is built for writers who want BYOK cloud AI, local Ollama support, and direct licensing outside the App Store.
iOS Status
The iOS App Store build has been submitted and is pending approval. The current launch is focused on the live Mac release while the iOS review process continues.
What Feedback Helps Most
Writers Studio is a solo-developed product, so practical workflow feedback matters.
If you write fiction, the most useful feedback is specific:
- Where does your writing workflow still feel fragmented?
- What continuity problems are hardest to catch?
- Do you track story details while drafting, during revision, or only after a full draft exists?
- Which export format matters most for how you publish or share work?
- Would local AI support change whether you trust AI with an unpublished manuscript?
The product is live now, and the next work is about making the workspace model feel even more natural for real writing projects.
